What we collect

We collect minimal data to operate the service:

• Your uploaded video file (processed and deleted within 1 hour)
• Your IP address (for rate limiting, 5 compressions per day)
• A cookie to track your daily compression count (expires at midnight UTC)
• Basic analytics via Google Analytics 4 (page views, country, device type)

Your video files

Your uploaded video is processed solely to compress it and return the result to you. We:

• Delete your video from our servers within 1 hour of upload
• Never share, sell, or analyze your video content
• Never view your videos manually
• Use temporary Google Cloud Storage with automatic lifecycle deletion

Cookies

We use a single functional cookie to track your daily compression count. This is required for the rate limiting feature. We also use Google Analytics cookies for traffic analytics.

Third-party services

• Google Cloud Storage, temporary video storage (same-region, auto-deleted)
• Google Analytics 4, anonymous traffic analytics
• Google AdSense, display advertising
• Cloudflare, CDN, DNS, and DDoS protection

Data Retention

Uploaded video files are stored temporarily on Google Cloud Storage and are automatically deleted within 1 hour of upload. We do not retain any copy of your video after deletion. IP addresses used for rate limiting are stored in memory only and are not persisted to any database or log file. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted by Google.

Cookie Policy

CompressYourVideo.com uses a minimal number of cookies:

• Rate limit cookie: A functional cookie that tracks your daily compression count. This cookie expires at midnight UTC each day and is required for the service to function.
• Google Analytics cookies: Used for anonymous traffic analytics (page views, country, device type). These cookies are set by Google and follow Google's privacy policy.
• Google AdSense cookies: Used to serve relevant advertisements. These are set by Google and governed by Google's advertising policies.

We do not use any tracking cookies for our own purposes beyond the functional rate limit cookie described above.

Your Rights Under GDPR and CCPA

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Right to deletion: You can request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we retain minimal data and delete videos within 1 hour, this right is largely satisfied automatically.
• Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
• Right to object to processing: You can object to the processing of your data for analytics purposes by using a browser extension to block Google Analytics.
• Right to data portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format.

Children's Privacy

CompressYourVideo.com is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@compressyourvideo.com and we will delete the information promptly.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
