How we compiled this
File size limits, watermark behaviour, and signup requirements are taken from each tool's live free-tier experience in June 2026 (we tested every tool without an account where possible). Pricing reflects each site's public pricing page. Platform preset counts are the number of explicit size-target presets offered in the compression flow, not informal mentions in documentation. Privacy and file-retention claims are lifted from each tool's stated policy (we don't audit whether they actually honour it). Our own pipeline runs in your browser on your device, so your file never reaches a server in the first place; retention is not applicable on our side.
